While we crafty bloggers are posting our recipes for holiday ornaments and crock pot meals let’s not forget our fellow citizens in the Northeast that are struggling to heat their homes, find enough power to charge their phones and enough gas to get to work. It looks like cold weather and another storm is heading their way and will intensify their struggle.
Basic daily tasks require nearly herculean effort on their part. How can we help? Large organizations such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army are already working in the Northeast. I suggest donating to the organization that you think will pour the most help into the area. There is tremendous need.

Over the next few weeks many different volunteer groups will be heading to the Northeast to help. Say “yes” when you’re asked to help a local group with their volunteer expenses.
Maybe it’s time to start a new family tradition. While counting our blessings on Thanksgiving we could also say what we’ve done to help others this year.
